Let me tell you about how the concept for this business came about......

When I was expecting my first child, there weren’t as many maternity boutiques in Dublin as there are now and I found it very difficult to find the clothes that I wanted to wear as opposed to the clothes that were affordably available to me.

We had a family wedding when I was about six months pregnant and although it was a great excuse to go all out (sure I had to!)  It was the second most expensive outfit I had ever bought in my life, the first being my wedding dress -  I’m convinced the indigestion kicked in then!

On my second pregnancy there was a lot more choice out there, still very expensive it seemed but at least you had a few shops to browse through. Did I say browse?? I remember struggling through the doors of  these very quiet shops, toddler in the buggy, probably with some sort of sticky bribe in his hands, oversized nappy bag banging off my arms, my top probably rising over my big belly while my trousers went south, flushed face, mad hair and well………you get the picture.

Maybe it was just me and I am probably exaggerating a little but at times it was quite stressful. I did spend a lot of money and at the end of the day (9mths) I was left with a lot of lovely clothes, in very good condition (let’s face it, the clothes aren’t doing a lot of partying!)  that I never, ever wanted to see again!

I had always had the idea of opening a shop where women could buy and sell all of these lovely clothes at a fraction of the price they were initially bought for. It just made so much sense and was a situation whereby everyone was a winner.

However, when I remembered how the idea came to me I realised that having a shop would mean women would have the same hassles that I  had experienced - getting to it, parking,  possibly having one or two kids with them etc… so I decided that not only would I start a unique business but I would also provide a service in that I would travel to women’s homes to either buy the clothes or to sell them some! It was sort of combining the best of everything really, Designer clothes, low prices, and not just having them delivered by post but actually allowing the customer the time to try on and simply decide what she wanted to buy there and then.

The feedback that I have received has been really terrific. Women are able to try on the clothes in their own bedrooms, try their own accessories, shoes and even underwear.

The clothes are constantly being rotated and the advantage is that when I call to someone’s house, I know their size, have an idea of what they are looking for and so the whole thing is very relaxed and stress free! If I don’t have what they are looking for at the time, the good thing is I know what they like and the very next day I could meet someone who wants to sell something similar.
